Reconnecting at WTM London: Calabria Food Fest, Italea.com, and the Power of Italian Roots

-

This week at WTM London, I was reminded—once again—why I do what I do. Surrounded by innovators, cultural leaders, and storytellers from across the world, I felt something deep and familiar rise to the surface: the pull of heritage. And this year, that feeling was amplified by two projects incredibly close to my heart—Calabria Food Fest and my ongoing collaboration with Italea.com.

WTM London: A Global Stage for Local Stories

WTM has always been a place where global ideas collide, but this year, it became personal. Representing Calabria—the land of my family, my memories, and my identity—on a world stage gave me the chance to connect with people who share a similar origin story: Italian blood, global lives, and a desire to reconnect.

In every conversation, a pattern emerged. People weren’t just interested in travel. They were searching for belonging, for roots, for meaning. And that’s where the next chapter of my journey comes in.

Calabria Food Fest: A Celebration of Taste, Tradition, and Territory

Calabria Food Fest is much more than an event. It’s a stage that showcases the region’s flavors, stories, and spirit to an international audience. Working behind the scenes on the creative direction and promotion feels like a responsibility as much as a privilege.

Food is identity. Food is memory. And when people taste the products of Calabria—the peppers, the olive oil, the pecorino, the wine—they aren’t just experiencing a cuisine. They’re tasting generations of tradition, resilience, and passion.

The festival is a chance for those of us with Calabrian heritage to re-engage with the land on our own terms. To create new experiences built on old stories.

Italea.com: A Project of Deep Personal Meaning

And then there’s Italea.com.

If Calabria Food Fest is the celebration, then Italea is the bridge.

Italea is designed for people like me—and like millions around the world—who have Italian roots and feel that enduring pull toward the land of their ancestors. It’s a project rooted in connection: reconnecting families, rediscovering identity, and rewriting the relationship between Italy and its global diaspora.

For me, collaborating with Italea is not just professional. It’s deeply emotional.

I grew up with stories of Calabria. Stories told around dinner tables, in family gatherings, late at night when nostalgia mixes with pride. But stories can only take you so far. At some point, you need to walk the same roads, breathe the same air, and shake the same hands your ancestors did.

Italea helps people do exactly that. It turns longing into action. It turns roots into routes.

Why These Projects Matter—Now More Than Ever

We live in a time when it’s easy to feel unmoored. Global, mobile, always connected yet rarely grounded. But heritage has a way of centering us. It reminds us who we are, where we come from, and what’s worth preserving.

WTM London reminded me that identity is a journey.
Calabria Food Fest reminded me that culture is a shared table.
Italea reminded me that belonging is a birthright.

These projects matter because they bring people home—sometimes for the first time.

A Personal Mission

As I continue my work across tourism, culture, and digital storytelling, my mission becomes clearer each year: to help people reconnect with their roots, celebrate their heritage, and experience Italy’s regions in a way that is authentic, emotional, and transformative.

And this mission starts with my own story.

WTM London showed me the global audience waiting for a connection.
Calabria Food Fest gives us the platform to tell our story.
And Italea.com gives us the pathway to bring people back home.

If you, like me, carry Italy in your name, your memories, or your DNA, I hope these projects inspire you to explore your origins with pride.

Because our roots don’t hold us back, they guide us forward.
